Introduction of Logistics and Supply Chain major at bachelor level

  1. General introduction.

    Up to the US. Logistics Administration Council: “Logistics is the process of planning, implementing, and controlling the movement and storage of raw materials, goods in process, finished products, and related information from the point of origin to the point of consumption, in order to meet customer requirements”.

    The tasks in this profession are mainly carried out at business and production facilities, warehouses, and ports; they involve strict compliance with various procedures and regulations, efficient use of infrastructure, and ensuring safety and security. The work intensity is high, with significant time pressure and demands to meet deadlines, requiring close coordination with related departments. To effectively perform these tasks, essential working conditions must be ensured, such as clear and comprehensive procedures and regulations, good infrastructure, the application of technology and software, and an efficient organizational structure to ensure smooth communication.

      Students, who are trained through this department, will have depth knowledge and practical skills to perform logistics-related tasks at companies, businesses, and economic organizations both domestically and internationally.

      In a detailed way, students are equipped with in-depth knowledge of logistics, such as: Fundamentals of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Maritime and Air Transport, Warehouse and Distribution Management, among others. Moreover, the teaching staff is experienced lecturers with strong practical and research backgrounds. Specialized courses are taught by experts from agencies, research institutes, and successful businessmen in Vietnam. The professional modules are designed with a practical orientation, with support and consultation from the Vietnam Institute of Logistics Research and Development.

  1. Program structure

     The Bachelor's degree program in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (full-time) is organized based on the credit system, with total of 141 credits. The duration of the program is 3.5 years, with three main semesters for each year.

  1. Teaching method

    The teaching methodology is modern and learner-centered, which can be considered a strength of Tay Do University—true to its name: modern and proactive. This approach emphasizes the evolving roles of both learners and instructors. Accordingly, students play a greater role in managing their own learning, while instructors shift from being the sole source of knowledge to becoming facilitators who guide learners in accessing and exploring available knowledge sources.

    Before discussing main contains of each subject, students are introduced to the course content and guided on self-study methods. Key issues are raised by the lecturers to encourage students to explore in advance and engage in in-class discussions. This approach fosters independent thinking and self-reliance among students. In addition, students have opportunities to participate in seminars, thematic discussions, and undertake internships at enterprises and organizations during their final year.

  1. Opportunity careers

After being graduated, participants can work in many fields such as:

- Researcher or policy planner at state management agencies.

- Officer at foreign trade representative offices in Vietnam or at Vietnamese trade offices abroad.

- Lecturer or researcher at educational institutions or research institutes specializing in Logistics.

- Warehouse staff, delivery/transportation staff, customs service staff, hub staff, coordination center staff, logistics sales staff.

- Logistics management specialist, international logistics specialist, logistics operations manager.

- Logistics consultant.

- Teaching roles at universities, colleges, and vocational schools in the field of logistics education.

          Career advancement opportunities after three years to positions such as warehouse manager, company representative in international markets, transport/customs service manager, hub or coordination center manager, or logistics business manager.
